This was our first indesign session, and we were being shown the basics of lay out in indesign as a lot of people on the course had not used indesign before just like myself. The task was to recreate 1 to 4 posters by Müller Brockman.
LEFT: my recreation , RIGHT: original.
I opened up indesign on a a4 portrait dartboard added in a grid of 18x22 with no gutter. I decided to draw out the black rectangles use the square tool, i drew out all 11 boxers then arranged the into the order they are in now. I then moved onto the type, I used 6 text boxers for the type part. I typed out all the type in there individual text boxes, with the correct type, which was helvetica, a similar size which i guessed to be about size 15pt and the alignment to be left aligned.
I did really enjoy this session as i have never used indesign before, I found it to be very similar to illustrator because if i got asked to recreate that I would have ben able to do it on illustrator. However, I don't think that i would be using these techniques in my future projects as it is not really my style of design, but i did learn a lot from this session. I learnt how to use indesign for a start and I am looking forward to the upcoming indesign sessions.
