Seminar - process to research

In this seminar we talked about how to have an idea and the many ways we could possibly have the idea.
We was given a task in pairs, to thing of an object and not tell our pair, we then got told to write down ten-twenty questions to ask our pair about their chosen object.
My questions
1) Is it in this room
2)is is an object
3) Is it used in graphics
4) do I/we see it on a daily basis
5) Is is obvious
6)does it control the flow of something
7) is it mechanical or electronic
8)is it colourful
9)is it big
10)is it a component

From asking my pair these 10 question I couldn't guess what he was thinking about. I found this really hard to do, but from this I learnt how difficult it is to find what you want when thinking of the questions before you actually start asking the questions.

We was then told to do the same task, but ask the questions as we go along, I found this a lot easier to do, even though I didn't guess what my pair's object was. I found out my pairs object, which was a dustcap, but from my pair choosing this object made me understand that choosing something so small doesn't help make this method usable, however it still works if you choose something more obvious to people everyday lives.

I really benefited from this exercise, as it help me understand and learn that if you are patience and take your time you get the result you want.
