In this lecture we looked at typography and the history of type. We started off with a quote about type. "THE FUNCTION OF TYPOGRAPHY IS TO COMMUNICATE A MESSAGE SO IT EFFECTIVELY CONVEYS BOTH ITS INTELLECTUAL MEANING AND ITS EMOTIONAL FEELINGS" WILLIE KUNZ (1998) MACRO AND MICRO TYPOGRAPHY
We then looked at how some basics to type what the baseline was, x-height, the ascender height and the descender height. Along with the tracking and how it works, show with different metrics also the leading. We then looked at different parts of a letters like the counter or the bowl and what a serif is.
I really liked this lecture I as gained a lot more knowledge about typography and this history of typography. I took away a lot more than I thought i would from this lecture.
